Jan Švankmajer is a Czech surrealist artist born in 1934, Prague. He has created full lenght films such as Alice, employing stop motion animation to a classic tale. Jan loved using food as a medium, prefering live action sequences to animation. When not using live action sequences, he used clay objects through stop motion in what is known as Clay Animation, or Claymation.
